A local company established for over 35 years offering sight seeing trips along the Lymington river. At the helm is a husband and wife duo who are passionate about providing memorable family days out. Based in the heart of picturesque Lymington, we offer 30 minute scenic river cruises aboard 'Puffin Billi' or a 30 minute pirate adventure cruise aboard 'Black Puffin'. A close encounter with sailboat cruisers & super yachts, salt grass marshes & stunning views. Spend time spotting some of the wildlife, which lives in abundance along these shores.
Puffin Billi
If it's just a short boat ride you're after then the 30 minute scenic river cruise is perfect. Hop aboard our 'Puffin Billi' and cruise along the rive admiring the marina, wildlife and tranquil waters. We head downstream in complete comfort towards the mouth of Lymington River through the protected saltgrass marshes which are a haven for seabirds such as gulls, terns, ducks, waders and curlews. We provide a commentary about points of interest.
Our guided river tour has been described as entertaining, informative and educational!

Black Puffin
Visit the cobbled streets of Olde Town Quay Lymington and set sail on a journey of adventure from the Quay of Lost Souls aboard the infamous pirate ship 'Black Puffin'.

Open ye olde deadman's chest and dress up as real pirates for your trip, gold doubloons and pieces of eight be yours for the takin' as we sail to the end of the world in search of Skull Island.
During your tour we get dressed up to really get in to character. We enjoy a pirate disco and our resident pirate sets tasks along the journey such as finding out your pirate name and taking the helm as we head up Lymington River. Everyone gets involved with firing the cannons. This trip is action packed! So be ready to get stuck in !!

How can we get the most up to date information ?
Please look at our social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram or call us on 07850947618. We will post if we have private hire bookings or if unfortunately on the rare occasion we suffer a mechanical issue. We do not want any of our valued customers having a wasted trip. Please check our stories as we up date these daily throughout busy periods.

Do you run in the rain?
We aim to run every day. Our season is 6/7 months so we want to make sure we are open as much as possible. The wind is our main issue as we can not run in stormy conditions. Please always call to check! We would rather the phone ring constantly than people travel to be disappointed. Sometimes we have mechanical issues that can not be avoided and we can not predict so again we can not stress enough to call to avoid disappointment on 07850947618. You can also whatsapp or facebook message us. We will always answer or get back to you asap!

Opening Times ?
We open at 10am and trips start at 10.30am. We have no set closing time as this changes each day depending on many factors such as weather and how busy we are however we recommend coming between 10am - 3pm to guarantee you get a trip with us. If you are coming later please call before to check we are still running to avoid disappointment.

Do you have a minimum amount of people required to run a trip ?
Yes we do. For the Puffin Billi River Cruise its a minimum of 2 adults.
For our Black Puffin Pirate Experience its a minimum of 2 adults & 1 child.

Do you go to the Isle of Wight ?
Unfortunately not. Please contact Coral Star or Fluid Water Taxi or or All Decked Out Charter or Double Six Charters for all your island needs!
Can you buy tickets online ?
No unfortunately not. All tickets are purchased at the Kiosk on the quay on the day you wish to take a trip.
Can you pre book ?
Unfortunately not as we run to a very tight schedule the boats leave on the hour and every half an hour so we do not hold tickets back but you will be able to get the next trip. We do however take bookings for all private hire. Please call or email to book.
What happens if I miss my time slot?
We encourage all guest to be ready to board their trip a minimum of 5 mins before departure as in busy periods we have full boats so you will not be able to get on the next trip or provide you with a refund for the trip you have missed.
How long are your trips?
30 minutes approximately unless hired privately when we can then offer up to an hour.
Do you operate Puffin Billi every day ?
The Puffin Billi river cruise runs every day from the 1st of April until the 30th of September. (Weather Permitting) Please always call to double check we are open on 07850947618.
When does The Black Puffin Pirate Ship Run ?

Can I tip the Skipper?
Yes you can and we are very grateful for your kind gesture however we can only except cash for tips - Thank you
​Are there toilets on board?
No the boats do not have toilets on board but there are public toilets located right there on the quay.
Is there parking?
Parking is located at the quay on a pay display basis. It does get busy in the summer so please allow plenty of time.
Do you run all year round?
Our season runs from 1st April to 30th September but there may be opportunities to open earlier or later depending on the weather and conditions. Please call to check.
Do I need to wear a life jacket?
No we have all life saving appliances on board in case of an emergency only.
Can I take my dog?
Yes dogs are welcome on board.
Can I eat and drink on board?
We prefer no eating on board for the comfort of all our guests and water and soft drinks are accepted. Please no hot drinks for the safety of our guests.
Do you go fast?
No the speed limit on the river is 4 Knots.
Do you see any puffins?
Unfortunately not it is just the company name and had been for 40 years however you may see a variety of sea birds and other wildlife on the cruise.

"Came down with the husband, our dog and the two kids and booked for a trip, we were scared my husband wouldn't be able to go because of having to stay with the dog however were surprised to find they love dogs on board!
The skipper was absolutely lovely and the best bit was the treasure hunt for the kids and the views for us adults.
Overall lovely experience and worth every penny, would highly recommend!!"

"A trip on the Black Puffin Pirate ship is recommended for all the family if you are visiting Lymington. Dressing up and various props are available to use while you are enjoying the Pirate's storytelling. All the children have the opportunity to " steer " the ship and then find the box of treasure from which they are able to choose some sweets. This is a 30 minute trip, very safe and well organised.
This was a real treat for all the family to enhance our day in Lymington.
